Owensboro Health Family Medicine in Beaver Dam Celebrates 15th Anniversary

Beaver Dam Family Care

Owensboro Health Family Medicine in Beaver Dam celebrated 15 years of serving the community in May. This marks over a decade of service to the community of Ohio County and beyond as a beacon of comprehensive family care, offering services ranging from primary care to specialized chronic disease management.

According to Tracey Thornberry, the practice administrator, the clinic's focus has always been primary care, but its services extend beyond. “We offer in-office point-of-care testing and X-rays,” Thornberry highlighted. She also emphasized the practice's capability to see patients across the lifespan, from children to the elderly, providing a one-stop medical home for families in the community.

The clinic’s provider, Courtney Vincent, APRN, who joined the clinic in 2019, brings a compassionate approach to medicine, striving to treat her patients like family.

“I chose this track to care for all ages,” Vincent stated. “The thing I enjoy most is getting to serve and care for my patients. I want to provide excellent and compassionate care to those in our community.”

Her diverse background, from urgent care to NICU, and her special focus on diabetes and heart disease management equip her to offer comprehensive care within the rural setting.

OH Family Medicine in Beaver Dam is not just a medical office; it's an integral part of the Ohio County landscape, providing access to healthcare that might otherwise be out of reach for rural communities. The clinic ensures continuity of care through its association with Owensboro Health, allowing for referrals and access to a wide network of specialists when needed. “We exist to heal the sick and improve the health of the communities we serve,” said Thornberry, expressing the clinic's mission.

Located at 1213 N. Main St., the facility was born out of a unique opportunity to revitalize a space previously housing the Houchens market. Dr. Darby Cole — current Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program at Owensboro Health — initiated the clinic's establishment and shared the story of its origins, including overcoming challenges such as the 2009 ice storm, which posed significant hurdles. The partnership with Owensboro Health in 2010 marked a new chapter for the clinic, allowing it to expand its services and continue its mission to provide quality care.

The practice has flourished, even offering oncology hematology care through a visiting provider every month.

Courtney Vincent and the team are dedicated to maintaining a family-oriented approach, embodying the clinic's core values of excellence and compassion in patient care.

As Owensboro Health Family Medicine in Beaver Dam celebrates 15 years of service, it remains committed to its mission of improving community health, showcasing the importance of accessible and quality healthcare in rural Kentucky.
